<\/p>

The new DIN SPEC 91481 is intended to promote the use of recycled plastics and builds on DIN SPEC 91446. Developed by a consortium of 19 organizations, it aims to increase the use of recycled polyamide (PA) in the long term. The standard defines specific requirements for the classification of PA plastic recyclates and waste and facilitates their use and trade, including online.<\/p>

DIN SPEC 91481 also contains a concept for a digital product passport that enables comprehensive data collection and processing from raw materials to the compound in order to make the entire life cycle of the material traceable. Christian Schiller, founder of the online trading platform Cirplus, emphasizes that the new standard focuses on polyamide as a material for the first time and promotes digitalization in the circular economy. This should help to overcome existing obstacles in the recycling value chain and contribute to defossilization and a more CO2-neutral circular economy.<\/p>

The development was led by the IKK Institute for Plastics and Recycling Technology at the University of Hanover, in collaboration with the L\u00fcdenscheid Plastics Institute and Cirplus. The companies and organizations involved include Greiner Packaging, Polifilm Extrusion, DSD (Der gr\u00fcne Punkt), Remondis Recycling, MKV, Krauss Maffei and Tomra Sorting.<\/p>
