The use of the preservatives triclocarban and triclosan will be further restricted with effect from 31 December 2024 and will in future require a warning label to be affixed when used in toothpaste. The possibility of selling goods previously placed on the market will remain possible until 31 October 2025.
Triclocarban
Not suitable for preserving mouthwashes.
Do not use in toothpaste for children under 6 years of age.
For toothpastes containing triclocarban, the following labelling is mandatory: "Not for use in children under 6 years of age."
Triclosan
Not suitable for preserving mouthwash.
Do not use in toothpaste for children under 3 years of age.
For toothpastes containing triclosan, the following labelling is mandatory:
"Do not use for children under 3 years of age."
